supernatural

Last night, I led worship at church for 2nd-5th grade kids. I do this twice a month, sometimes less or more depending on changes in the schedule. From an outsider's view, you might think that this really is just a fun thing that doesn't have much of an impact. Not true. Of course it's fun, but it also has a huge impact. You can tell when you watch the kids sing and dance along, or when you talk to them after and they ask you questions about what the song lyrics mean, etc. It's a great experience.

Where I'm going with this...have you ever tried to write a song that could be used in kids ministry? It's really hard. You have to find the comprehensible middle between "Jesus loves me, this I know..." at one extreme, and metaphors that they probably won't understand at the other.

Basically, I really admire the songwriting talent of people like Rob Biagi, Jana Alayra, and the worship leaders of Hillsong Kids.
