quote

So today I called the people at discmakers and they gave me a "product specialist" who gave me a custom quote for my project. I have 2 options: Empty my entire bank account and have about $15 left...OR play up the "Daddy, I'm sooo thankful for your support of my CD and I love that you're so enthusiastic but I just need an extra [insert heartbreakingly massive amount of money here] so I can finish and spread the Word of God through my music" deal...there are soooo many things wrong with that...

i didn't realize...

...that people cared this much? This is amazing to me! Look:

I just uploaded "Alive" last night and there are already 15 plays and a download of it. I have not listened to my songs on myspace myself, so I know they're all from other people. And of the 49 plays for today (my record, I'm pretty sure, for one day), none of those were listened to by me either. So either there are multiple people out there listening, or there is one person who's been sitting there all day. Either way it's a pretty awesome feeling so thanks if you're the one listening!

alive

I wrote this song called "Alive" and today I made a demo of it at Logan's house. It's one of my favorite songs of all the ones I've written because concentrated on one subject. Usually I write each song about a mix of God, people, life, whatever, but this one is just about one person. I think I've only written two other songs like that. Also it's in 5/4 which gives it major cool points. Anyway, it will be on myspace in a couple days so be looking for it.

318th play

I noticed that I had 298 plays on myspace, so I decided to make up a contest and say that if the person who had the 318th play could prove to me that they had it, they would win a free copy of the EP when it comes out. I did this because I like to feel like I'm a bigger deal than I actually am. Why the 318th? Figure it out.

Anyway, Mary Mantia won. I think she sat there playing the songs over and over until it got to 318, which is some pretty awesome dedication right there. Congratulations Mary!

oh yeah, i remember now

...Why I'm doing all of this. Because no matter how much I get down on myself because of my lack of guitar playing skills, there always seems to be a person who pops up and says something like this. It's always someone different, and I'll keep this one anonymous, but after I said "...I thought for sure people like John Mayer covers more than my lame first-position-chord-girlie-lyric originals," this person said to me...

"I would take your originals over a John Mayer cover anyday. I think they're really good. Which is strange for me to say because I tell it like it is, and I'm usually very not into people's originals. But there's something different about yours."

thank you!
